Meet our Governance

We’re making changes

Primary and Community Health Aotearoa (PCHA) is entering a critical and exciting period of transformation.

Following deep reflection, sector engagement, and strategic analysis, it is clear: a reset is not only needed, but unanimously supported.

PCHA is committed to strengthening its governance, redefining its purpose, and rebuilding member confidence through bold leadership, inclusive engagement, and strategic clarity. Our journey forward is guided by collective wisdom and the belief that a unified voice for the primary and community health sector is essential to the future of health in Aotearoa.

Our Shared Vision

This transition is about more than structure—it’s about culture. We are committed to:

  • Clarifying Purpose: Re-establishing who we are and what we stand for.

  • Strengthening Governance: Implementing a robust board skills matrix, code of conduct, and updated charter.

  • Elevating Visibility: Strengthening our media presence and influence with government.

  • Rebuilding Engagement: Resetting membership fees to reflect equity and value, and improving transparency.

  • Amplifying Advocacy: Developing a more strategic, focused, and impactful voice for the entire sector.

What’s Next?

A six-month roadmap has been proposed to deliver this reset, supported by a committed board, external governance expertise, and dedicated project roles. This process is built on collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability.

PCHA stands at a crossroads, and we choose to move forward together—with unity, purpose, and confidence.
